The Serious Step Wanda Sykes Is Considering In Response To The Oscars Slap

We knew from the moment it occurred, that the consequences that came from Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars will last for a time However, I'm not certain anyone could have anticipated the length of time that discussions about The Slap would last. Rock refused to discuss the matter during his standup events and left the possibility open for anyone who is Ricky Gervais to Shaquille O'Neal to comment on what transpired... as well as what's in the future. After a phone call from Will Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith to Chris Rock and Smith to "talk this out and reconcile," Smith, the former SNL actor and popular comic has made his thoughts public. In essence, Smith shouldn't be sitting at his desk.

Many curious viewers watched closely Chris Rock's initial appearances after the Oscars in the hopes that he'd talk about The Slap at all. While Rock mostly dragged about the entire issue, promising that he'll discuss the matter "until I get paid," the burden was on Smith to remain in the spotlight and defend the actions of Will Smith.

The incident that was a joke has resulted in Smith the world. He was Bad Boys star resigned from the Academy after the controversy. Several projects he was working on were put off despite the fact that Sony continues to claim they will release Bad Boys 4 remains in the process of being made. The delays could give Will Smith time to continue his himself-made "spiritual journey" he claims that he's taking. Even in the explanation Jada Pinkett Smith offered in the Red Table sessions, she clarifies that she as well as Will continue to work out what life is. Don't we all, Jada?

Chris Rock might be tipping his hand to see what his next plans might be. If he's really clever (and Chris Rock definitely is) it's possible that he's planning an interview with a high profile that puts Oprah Winfrey to call him and pay-per-views the conversation. We'd all shell out a lot to finally see Rock's reaction in response to his slap to the Will Smith slap. If Rock continues to weave in references to The Slap into his stand up, he could have another hour of material which could lead to an additional stand-up show and be in addition to the one he's traveling with on the road. At the moment, the rock is playing the ball. We'll watch how he plays the ball.

The incident that was impromptu has caused Smith dearly. Smith was Bad Boys star resigned from the Academy after the controversy. Chris Rock might be tipping his hand to see what his next plans could be. If he's really clever (and Chris Rock definitely is) it's possible that he's planning to do a major interview and gets Oprah Winfrey on the line and then pay per view that conversation. We'd all be willing to pay top dollar to finally listen to Rock's reaction on The Slap from Will Smith slap. If Rock continues to weave in references to The Slap into his stand up, he may finish with an additional hour of material which could lead to another stand-up special as well as the one he's traveling with on the road. The ball is in Rock's court. We'll see how he handles the ball.

Vivica A. Fox was crying when she spoke about Jada Pinkett Smith's remarks about the husband of her Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at this year's Academy Awards.

In Thursday's episode of The Wendy Williams, the actress, 57, claimed she believes Jada admitted to having "no accountability" for her involvement in the incident that occurred during Tuesday's Red Table Talk.

"This is going to be difficult for me. These are my peers. I've done a movie with both of them. Set It Off with Jada and Independence Day with Will Smith, which absolutely changed my life. When I saw this video last night, it made me cry, I'll be very honest with you guys," she emotional confessed.

"I really felt to be a partner to Will Smith who's career basically took a crumble that night," she said. "We were all rooting for Will Smith that night -- Oscar night -- we wanted him to win. Will Smith that night as far as I was concerned was going to be crowned this generation's Sidney Poitier, which is a huge honor."

Fox later spoke about the reasons she believed Jada 50 had an impact on the incident, which took place after Rock made fun of Jada's shaved hair leading Will to take to the stage and hit the comedian.

"Will Smith was defending her honor, that's the reason he walked on stage and slapped because he felt like his wife had been offended so for me to see no accountability as a partner," she said. "Also, let's not forget, Chris Rock was assaulted. We cannot forget that for basically telling a joke that I really felt wasn't that bad."

She went on to say, "Let's not forget the show was executive produced by Will Packer, an African American man. This night was a night of African American and diversity for brown and black people. That now will forever be scarred."

Fox hopes Will and Jada will take on more responsibility for their actions after the fact after the incident.

"I have love for the Smiths. I know their children. I've watched them grow up," she stated. "I just wish we could have just a little more accountability and for it to not seem so self-righteous on Jada's part and that's my feelings."

In Wednesday's Red Table Talk, Jada spoke directly to the audience by saying, "About Oscar night. My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile."

"With the state of the world today, we need 'em both, and we all actually need one another more than ever," the Girls Trip actress continued.

"Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years -- and that's [to] keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening," Jada ended.

Will 53, who was barred from any future ceremonies and events for a period of 10 year from the Academy for hitting Rock who was 57 at the March ceremony, when comedy comedians made jokes that was a reference to Jada's appearance. The actress suffers from Alopecia.

After this incident Will (who was later awarded Best Actor for his performance in King Richard -- has publicly apologized to Rock and said that the actor "reacted emotionally" because the "joke about Jada's medical condition was too much for me to bear."

This former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star has also quit the Academy. Will then flew to India to learn yoga and meditate according to a source who spoke with PEOPLE earlier this month.

A few days after the incident, Jada broke her silence on social media by posting an update in her Instagram grid, which read "This is a season for healing and I'm here for it."
